Three of the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke tell the story of Jesus’s birth. All are called “The 12 Voices of Christmas” and depict the 12 characters in the Christmas story. Can you name them? Hint: Two are angelic, and 10 are earthly characters. The characters are Gabriel, Zachariah, Elizabeth, John, Mary, Joseph, the angels, the shepherds, Annas, Simon, Herod, and the Wise Men. Each character exhibits a particular characteristic – disclosure, disbelief, proclamation, authority, wonder, reason, praise, declaration, Thanksgiving, peace, deception, and adoration.
Gabriel is the voice of disclosure.
Zachariah is the voice of disbelief.
Elizabeth is the voice of proclamation.
John is the voice of authority.
Mary is the voice of wonder.
Joseph is the voice of reason.
Angels are the voice of praise.
Shepherds are the voice of declaration.
Annas is the voice of Thanksgiving.
Simon is the voice of peace.
Herod is the voice of deception.
Wise Men are the voice of adoration.
How did your character knowledge fare? You may want to review the three Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, to refresh your knowledge. The last question is: Where do you – the 13th voice – fit into the narrator? On December 26th, we celebrate Hanukkah. Celebrate the lights of Yeshu in your life during the season.
