The first stanza of “God of our Fathers” reads: “God of our Fathers, whose almighty hand.” In pondering history, which patriarch do you think of as dealing with God, our Father? Is it Moses? Adam? Abraham? Europe and the US have their foundations in the Christian foundation. In the US, the Pledge of Allegiance mentions God, and the phrase “In God We Trust” can be found on the dollar bill. However, in African nations, the spiritual foundation is witchcraft. This is also true in Haiti.
In geography, the world map shows longitude and latitude. The term “10-40 Window” refers to the area of the globe that is resistant to Christianity and largely unchurched. God, our Father, sees the nation of Israel as the apple of His eye; God has chosen Israel to be a light to the nations.
God wants us to pray for unchurched nations. Have you ever prayed for a particular nation? You may have heard about Intel or met someone from a specific nation that piqued your interest. Many church groups focus on particular nations. One example is: Mena. This refers to the Middle East and North Africa. They have recently opened an office in Pakistan.
Some groups help alumni connect with the native Amenza tribes. One such group is oneagleswings.org. A group supporting widows has given Albanian widower Dureno. They provide the ovens to bake desserts to sell to local hotels, thereby generating income. Ask the Holy Spirit which nation to pray for and which place to support; many needs could pique a particular interest.
In 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Mark Twain has said, “I love my nation, but not always my government.” Pray for God’s revival and blessings this July on our nation and the world.
