The last two nights a snowy egret has been visiting in the window.
It gets very excited to see me move around. It perks up when I go near the window. Its persistence intrigues me.
As I learned today someone has been feeding the birds here. This egret is still entreating for a tidbit.
It’s activity has caused me to appreciate the Message Bible Translation in its version of Matthew 5:43-45
“You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend’, and the unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy’. I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves. This is what God does. He gives his best- the sun to warm and the rain to nourish-to everyone, regardless: the good and the bad, the nice and the nasty.”
Describing “prayer energies” demonstrates that prayer has life, direction and purpose that reveals God at work in exciting and active ways.
