This morning, I was reading this piece by Carey and I wondered where does The Table fit into this research. You see we do not see ourselves as a church plant per se, and of course we are planted. We don’t really see ourselves as a church – we see ourselves as an intentional faith community – and yet we are. We don’t want to have members, and yet we do have very committed people giving so much of themselves to being an intentional faith community. We never really had a launch, and yet we did launch. We never really see ourselves as having a committed core because we see everyone as committed to the core, and yet we do.
So, it is hard when words cannot perfectly fit you in a box. And that is my reason for joy today: words cannot box us into a particular identity. I love it because we strive to be the Lord’s Table where all are welcome and no words can separate us from the love of God.
